This article explains how to use VRoid Studio's dress-up feature to dress a VRoid Studio model in costumes and accessories for VRChat.
This can also be used to dress avatars in VRM format in costumes and accessories for VRChat.
What you'll need
Software
- VRoid Studio
- VRChat Creator Companion (VCC)
- Unity Version: 2022.3.22f1
- VRChat SDK Version: Avatars 3.7.1 and later
- XWear Package
*Has to be imported to VCC.

Dress-up data
- Avatar data created in VRoid Studio (.vroid or VRM)
- VRChat-compatible costume or accessory data (XWear, FBX, or unitypackage)

If you already have the costume data in XWear format, skip this step.
Follow the guide below to import costume data (FBX, unitypackage) into VCC, then use XWear Package to convert it to XWear format.
How do I make a VRChat costume or accessory compatible with the dress-up feature? (XWear conversion)
If the costume data is in FBX format, additional setup, such as configuring accessory physics, may be required before converting it to XWear.
2. Launch VRoid Studio
Start VRoid Studio.
Click on the dress-up feature tab and select "Get started with the Dress-Up feature" or "Create New".
3. Import an avatar
Click "Add Base Model" to open a file dialog. Select the .vroid or VRM file you wish to import.
4. Import a costume
Click "Add Costume" to open a file dialog. Import the XWear file you converted earlier.
