Summary
pixivFACTORY offers a 3D printing service (called pixivFACTORY's Character 3D Printing Service) for models made using VRoid Studio.
This article will detail the production process on how to send your 3D printing data (in a fvp file) to pixivFACTORY for anyone interested in using this printing service.
※pixivFACTORY is a service which is currently only available within Japan. Shipping internationally is not currently available.
Procedure:
STEP 1. Create a model you'd like to 3D print
Start up VRoid Studio and create a model you'd like to 3D print.
Take a look here for more info on creating a model.
STEP 2. Add an expression
Select the Camera/Exporter tab.
Select the "Face Expression" tab, and then adjust the model's expression to your liking.
(Your model's eyes will remain open when you export it even with "Auto Blink" checked.)
STEP 3. Add a pose
There are three ways to give the model a pose.
- If using a preset pose -
Select "Pose & Animation", and then "Pose" from the drop down menu.
Pick out a pose you like under the "Preset Pose" category.
- If using the pose controllers -
Select "Pose & Animation", and then "Pose" from the drop down menu.
Make sure that "Show Controller" is checked. Then you can create a pose using the controller that is to your liking.
* Do not push "Stop" at this time.
- If using an animation -
Select "Pose & Animation" > and open the dropdown menu with "Pose" as the selected default.
You'll be able to choose between Female Animation and Male Animation.
Within the list, pick out an animation you like.
* Do not push "Stop" at this time.
A few tips!
You can add some wind to make the model's hair and clothes move.
To do so, select "Wind" and use the sliders to adjust the direction and strength of the wind.
* Do not push "Stop" at this time.
STEP 4. Open the 3D printing menu
Select "3D Print".
Please wait until the file finishes processing.
STEP 5. Set the pose
On the 3D printing page, you can confirm the model's expression and pose to set the character's posing.
* If you'd added an animation, wind, etc you can time your press of the confirmation button to get the pose exactly how you want it.
STEP 6. Export the data for 3D printing
Finally, click "Export". You can save the 3D printing data to a location of your choice.
And that's how to use VRoid Studio.
Now you can send your 3D printing data to pixivFACTORY.
Please take a look here to learn more about sending it.
